Godly Reading Before Breakfast: Evangelical Magazines in the Shaping of American Life

For this year’s Annual Religion Lecture, the History Department at WSU will host Dr. Rachel Schwaller from the University of Kansas. Protestant Christians have been reading denominational magazines since the 18th century. These magazines provide a profound insight into how Evangelicals structure their lives and their faith. In her talk, Dr. Schwaller will speak about Evangelical denominational magazines, and how they are written to be read devotionally, including a unique spotlight on the portrayal of Native Americans in this literature.
